This tent, called a berber, is used for green woodworking. This is the craft of making furniture, and other things, out of unseasoned timber, some of which is grown at middlewood. One of the things that are made here are yurts. These are traditional mongolian tents - they are lightweight and portable like a tent, but also sturdy enough to live in all year round.
These photographs were taken at a yurt-building weekend that was held at middlewood in spring 2006.
